I love Japanese and Chinese poetry and art, especially long scroll paintings. A couple of days ago I was rereading my colection of tanka poems and came across a beautiful poem of poetess Yosano Akiko:
Eternal seagulls
Over the mirror-like surface of Shinano river
Unceasingly cross the air
Measuring with the wings
The broad expanse.
I've immediately come up with the idea of this pendant.
And it was a really nice reason to use beads of tanzanite, which I use quite sparingly. Tanzanite is a rare lavender-blue gemstone, its mines are located only in Merelani hills, in Northern Tanzania near the mountain Kilimanjaro.
